How I came across was IU was purely by chance. It was my choice though that I paid closer attention to the (nation) little sister’s work in My Mister. It was surreal for me to dig deeper into Korean pop culture through her eyes. I surprised myself for loving her work as an artist and most of the time as a human being. Perhaps if I first collided with her music when I was younger, and not even struggling to stay on (the right) track, her light would just be too bright and appear as a distraction that I usually take as a pinch of salt.

Whenever I looked back to July 2020, on the fateful day that I chanced upon her role as Lee Ji-an in My Mister, I laughed at my ignorance then of not knowing who she is and that totally made my devotion now so amusing. I was not even planning to continue watching a series that gave up such a deep, uninspiring vibe in its first episode, especially since the lead actress was always staring at others with despair in her eyes. But you know what they said, “If you manage to cross the finish line of the first episode, things might change for real.”
